Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Medical Products, Clinical Pharmacology

Together we at Sahlgrenska University Hospital create health care of highest quality with the patient in focus. With great commitment and constant learning we are one of the country's leading university hospitals. We work with everything from county medical care (länssjukvård) to highly specialised national care (rikssjukvård). Through interesting research we focus on the medical services of the future. In our work we utilise our shared knowledge and experience. Together with you we would like to create value for our patients.

About the workplace

At Clinical Pharmacology, physicians, pharmacists, and researchers work together to facilitate an evidence-based and cost-effective use of medicines at Sahlgrenska University Hospital and throughout Västra Götaland.

Job description

You will be part of a new consultancy team at Clinical Pharmacology, whose task it will be to gather and evaluate publicly available information about innovative pharmaceutical products currently launched in the EU. We will, on a regular basis, compare these medicines in terms of their value for patients and their cost effectiveness, and provide the results of our evaluations to decision-makers in clinical practice, health management and politics. As our information basis, we maintain and steadily extend an SQL database with published research results and documents concerning newly registered medicinal Products.

With your specific expertise, you will play a central part in streamlining the process of extending our database and manage the quality of the collected evidence. Using the data thus compiled, you will then conduct both non-parametric and model-based data analyses, the latter being based predominantly on Bayesian methods for evidence synthesis and uncertainty analyses. Moreover, you will summarize and visualize analytical results, to make them clear and intuitively accessible to decision makers. Finally, you will take an active part in the communication and publication of our findings through our project website (yet to be developed), articles and meeting presentations.

Development opportunities

You will gain valuable experience as a consultant and expert in a large organization. As our analysis procedures are still at a development stage, you will face stimulating analytical challenges, allowing you to extend your problem-solving skills and expert proficiency. If you wish to conduct research in a field of relevance for your tasks at Clinical Pharmacology, we will support you by finding individualized career solutions.

About you

We are looking for university graduates in applied or mathematical statistics, or economics if that is combined with an extended background in advanced quantitative modeling. Traditional and Bayesian statistical modeling, probabilistic sensitivity analysis. Familiarity with R, BUGS, and some SQL DBMS.

As you will need to explain your methods, results, and conclusions to colleagues and decision-makers (who in most cases have a different professional background than yourself), and as you are expected to take a strong responsibility for the development of our team, you must be able to communicate in an effective manner, to be driven by a service-minded attitude, and to deal in a professional manner with unfamiliar perspectives on the side of your colleagues and clients.

You are welcome to submit your application!
