About us

Center for Bionics and Pain Research (CBPR) is a multidisciplinary engineering and medical collaboration between Chalmers University of Technology, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, and Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg. Our mission is to develop and clinically implement technologies to eliminate disability and pain due to sensorimotor impairment.

The position is a project position of two years.

Tasks 

As a Senior Research Engineer (Electronics), you will support the development of cutting-edge neuroprosthetic and rehabilitation technologies. Your main responsibilities will be around system integration and electronic interfaces (HW/SW), and therefore experience with analog and digital electronics is required. You will be expected to produce the relevant technical documentation and apply regulatory standards. The ideal educational background for this position is on electronics, but mechatronics or robotics would be acceptable provided demonstrable experience developing electronic systems.

Qualifications 

  • Degree in Electronics (M.Sc., or Ph.D.) or similar experience
  • Three years of experience with analog and digital electronics (e.g., sensors, mixed-signal electronics, etc.).
  • Three years of experience programing software and firmware (e.g., embedded C, C++, MATLAB, etc.).
  • Three years of experience in manufacturing electronics
  • Experience with design & assembly of mechanical parts and assemblies.
  • Experience testing HW/SW using bench instrumentation (e.g., oscilloscope, signal generator, power supply, logic analyzer, etc.).
  • Experience writing technical documentation.
Meritorious

Experience related to some or all of the following:

  • Prosthetics, exoskeletons, or medical device development (e.g. IEC 60601, IEC 62304, etc.)
  • Version-controlled code development tools (e.g., SVN).
  • Experience designing 3D printed parts.
  • Neurostimulators or pulse generators
  • Bioelectric signals acquisition and processing
  • Machine Learning
  • Research and research-related tasks such as writing scientific articles and grant applications.
  • Experience with project management and coordination.
  • Experience with scientific, economic, administrative work.
  • Working within multidisciplinary clinical and technical/engineering environments
The successful candidate for this position must be thorough, well-structured, possess good social skills and be flexible in their working role. This role requires someone who can work both independently and in a group.
